What is the New Normal after the Corona Crisis?

”The New Normal” is slowly arriving again, but what does it mean this time?
The New Normal occurred first after the big financial crisis back in 2007-2009. After the financial crisis the entire world went into savings mode. The consumption decreased, and the savings increased. We have not in our time experienced an economical crisis to this extent, which is why we are now saving for worse days. This behavioral change created the phenomenon ”The New Normal”. The term describes the “new” future that awaits us when a crisis has come to an end and life goes on. However under new circumstances.

The corona crisis is not directly comparable to the Wall Street Crack, since it is a pandemic. Which means that it probably will not cause the same amount of economical damage. On the other hand, the corona crisis will affect work methods and the need for digital development. Within the industrial world, many production companies have been challenged on their usual work methods since digitalization and newer technologies are still only used to a certain extent.

Our take on New Normal after the Corona Crisis

We find that our customers across multiple industrial businesses have been keeping the production going with the most essential personnel.. Now the administration returns to a workday where the supply chain is affected by the corona crisis and the consequences that brings. The many small and medium manufacturers need to be even more on the mark for their own ability to deliver and earn money.. This means that they need to be aware of their utilization of the capacity and the real performance compared to expectations and theoretical capacity.. They also need to minimize any kind of waste– that being discarded products, production pauses, bottlenecks or low productivity amongst the employees across team shifts.

How have we adapted to the New Normal?

If you want to find the bottleneck, you’ll put one or more employees on the case and that could be costly in hours and therefore dollars. Therefore, in these times where efficiency optimization and a spot free production line is particularly important, digital tools and data collection systems are important elements. They can minimize the mistakes and improve the efficiency of the production. The digital needs of the customers have increased, and we feel that at Trendlog.io where the work methods have changed as well.

The corona crisis has also affected the days at Trendlog.io in the sense that there are an increased demand for digital tools and limited physical contact between the links. The consequence is that we’ve had to think even more standardization into our processes and the contact with both existing and new customers. We do this with online meetings (as far as possible) as well as documentation and guidance which makes it easily understandable for our customers to look for answers to their questions and get guidance on the product-related stuff.

Optimistically, the effect of the corona crisis and the new everyday life can open up for digital tools at the smaller businesses. This makes it possible for them to keep the jobs for their employees and equip them to be more competitive prospectively.
Read along in the next blog post where we look at the corona situation optimistically. We also take a closer look on why it is so important to follow the digitalization and why you must do it now!
For the companies it shouldn’t be about firing employees because you want to become more efficient – it should be about creating the possibility to build ON TOP of the existing
